Stone Pick Axe can be used as a weapon or a tool to gather resources. This is a useful tool for resource extraction. With its help, the production is much faster. It has little damage, but you can hunt "peaceful" animals with it. For aggressive animals you still need to make weapons. To craft the axe, you will need Wood and Stones, which are found everywhere, so early in the game it makes sense to get them as soon as possible.
Starting with the version 687.80, you can throw a stone pick axe and it gets the properties of projectile weapons ( see "Damage types"). You can pick up an axe after the throw.

=== === As a tool The resources are mined from deposits with a stone pick axe much faster than with the stone hatchet. An exception is the collection of resources from the dead animals, where the axe works better than pick axe. Mainly used for the production of Stones, metal ore, sulfur ore and the metal ore of high quality from the ore deposits.
As a melee Weapon
Stone pick is quite strong as a melee weapon. It does more damage than a stone axe, but strikes are slower.
As the raiding tool
An axe has the following damage to buildings:
Twig constructions - 3.4
Wooden constructions - 1.14
Stone constructions - 0.64
Metal constructions - 0.27
Armored constructions - 0.27
How to make stone picks
The stone pickaxe recipe is known by player initially. To create a pickaxe you will need 200 Wood, 100 stones.
